Royal in name only

Posted by Marilyn on January 31, 2006

At the moment this blog seems to be royal in name only. There are a few links to other royal sites but otherwise it’s not really ‘royal’. I hope to change that, eventually, but for the time being, this will be a space to muse about Marilyn’s Royal Blog.

Think of it as dvd director and cast commentary.

Mission Statement for all my blogs

Posted by Marilyn on January 31, 2006

I have an unposted mission for all of my blogs, specifically It’s to make the blog as informative as possible. Sometimes I’ve found, when I’ve searched other random blogs, that they don’t have a specific focus other than day to day happenings in the authors life.

With niche blogs, and I do consider marilynsroyalblog to be a niche blog, the focus is very much on the subject. One thing that I like about having this blog is that there is so much material, I could never run out of stuff to write about, which is wonderful. The subject is completely fascinating to me so that helps too.

But the point that I’m trying to get at is that I want to make the blogs interesting and informative. Royalty is much more than gossip and Prince Charles’ bald spot, although I’m not beyond satirizing the royals. I originally started with satire and then I branched out into articles on royal weddings and jewels, etc. Over time the blog became more interesting. If I can continue on that path then I’m accomplishing my mission.

Coming up with new material is hard to do

Posted by Marilyn on January 30, 2006

When you have three blogs on royalty it’s hard to come up with something unique to say.

I’m not trying to change the face of royal blogging, but it would be nice to have updates on this blog. People who perchance stumble across this, will find it worthwhile to take more than a cursory glance at it, before continuing on to more interesting and regularly updated blogs. Yes, I feel that I have a duty to the occassional visitor to update, even if it’s only to write filler postings such as this one, about how difficult it is to come up with anything interesting to say.

I enjoy writing about royalty, I’ve actually used the word LOVE (in capitals) to make it clear to all who don’t know or question the intensity of my interest. After all, you may ask (before heading on to more interesting blogs), if she claims to “LOVE” to write about royalty, why does she have three blogs. Of course, it’s admirable for her to have three blogs but why doesn’t she update them all? Isn’t it all pointless? Why waste my time, when I expected so much more in a royal blog?

I have no answer for my rhetorical imaginary musings of your thoughts and expectations. Other than this blog is still transfat, and calorie free and it smells nice too.

A New Royal Blog

Posted by Marilyn on January 22, 2006

I’m starting a new royal blog. I already have another one – actually I have two other blogs on royalty:

Why do I now have 3 royal blogs? Especially when I don’t edit the second one?

Good question!

I’m not sure that Blogger has the same features as wordpress and I’m also considering starting my own site. Before I do so I would like to try out wordpress, just to see how I like it. At the moment I’m confused about all of the stuff involved in organizing and maintaining a real website so I’m getting my feet wet here. Bear with me, it should get better, and maybe oneday I can announce to the world, the birth of my new and improved, lemon scented, zero transfat website.
